Free Flu Shots Given In Union Station Courtesy Of New Health Care App

DENVER (CBS4)- Hundreds of people lined up outside Union Station in downtown Denver and rolled up their sleeves for a free flu shot. It was all courtesy of a new app-based mobile health care provider that brings medical care right to you.

Dispatch Health is the new app-based mobile health care provider behind the flu shots.

"We are the same doctors and nurse practitioners you'd find at your local emergency room," CEO Dr. Mark Prather said.

The company's app is available in the app store starting November 1.

"You would be able to reach us much like you would an 'Uber' call," Prather added.

The service can do blood work, check for flu or mono or strep and take care of most emergencies.

The service is not meant to replace your doctor, but to instead save you a trip to urgent care, or the emergency room.

"We arrive with a lab, we arrive with medication," Prather added.

Dispatch Health accepts many forms of insurance and charges between $150-300 dollars per visit.

Prather said they hope to change the way we do healthcare, in an increasingly on–demand society, "Let's try to give you the care in the right place for the right price."

In case you missed Saturday's event, Dispatch health will be providing another 300 free flu shots on October 10 and 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at South Metro Fire Rescue station 34A.
