Nuggets Lose No Ground, Gain No Ground In Draft Lottery

NEW YORK (CBS4) - The Denver Nuggets will pick seventh in the NBA Draft.

At the NBA draft lottery on Tuesday night the Nuggets team president Josh Kroenke learned that his team didn't lose or gain any ground.

The Nuggets had a 4 percent chance of getting the top pick and a 15 percent chance of getting into the top 3. They had a 59.93 percent chance of staying at No. 7 and a 25 percent chance of slipping a spot or two.

The league started the lottery three decades ago as a way to prevent teams from trying to lose late in the season to secure a better draft position.

This is the first time the Nuggets will pick at No. 7 in any NBA Draft.

"Smile Josh Kroenke!," CBS4's Vic Lombardi said on CBS4 News at 10. "You can do a lot with the 7th pick in the draft. Stephen Curry was drafted 7th."

The Minnesota Timberwolves wound up with the No. 1 pick in the draft.

The NBA Draft takes place on June 25 in New York.
