A wind ensemble is a lot like an orchestra, just without the string instruments. The Colorado Wind Ensemble is more like a concert band, with all of the orchestral wind instruments plus percussion, saxophone and euphonium. The Ensemble performs music of all types, featuring Renaissance ensembles, chamber pieces, marches, military and symphonic works, Baroque works and even some contemporary compositions. There is a lot of variety for music fans here. For 31 seasons, the Colorado Wind Ensemble has performed these amazing works of art and you can catch them under the leadership of conductor Matthew J. Just what is the Denver Brass? It is a group of 14 musicians who perform classical works as well as just about every other musical style available. From classical to jazz, Broadway and Latin, it performs a huge variety of musical styles. The sound is truly distinctive, as the group is comprised of 13 different brass instruments, creating an original sound. The band was formed in 1981 and has performed throughout the state, amazing music fans at the sound and versatility of the brass instruments. Performances are held throughout the state at concert venues, churches and theaters.
