The live music scene is Denver is filled with a variety of music, bands and tremendously talented musicians. There are so many live music venues featuring such a variety of talent that there is literally something for everyone. Plan an evening out to discover a whole world of new bands, new music and new venues. You just may be one of the first people to hear the next big thing to hit the music scene since Elvis. So where should you start? Check out one of these great spots to discover some new music in Denver.

Larimer Lounge

For 10 years, the Larimer Lounge has been one of the best places in town to launch a new band or to catch some of the biggest names in local talent. Just about every single band in Denver has played the Lounge and it has shown no signs of slowing down. Every night of the week, you can catch a new group and discover some amazing new tunes. Of course, the full bar and large patio are also fine reasons to check out the Lounge.

If you like rock, then 3 Kings Tavern is one of the best places in town to catch plenty of local rock bands doing what they do best. There is always something hip and happening down at 3 Kings Tavern, with a large dance floor, two bars, pool tables and plenty of inexpensive drinks. It is the home of one of the best goth music nights in town, as well as regular burlesque, indie rock and so much more. Covers are always low and the crowd is always ready for rock.

For more than 30 years, Herman’s Hideaway has been one of the top live music venues in Denver. It brings a different genre of music every night, so you will never see the same show twice. From country to jazz and rock to blues, it’s all happening down at Herman’s. During the week, you can usually catch newer bands and discover some truly hip new sounds, or you can stop in on the weekend and see some of the better-known groups in town. There have even been plenty of huge names to play at Herman’s over the years from Dave Matthews Band to The Fray.

Those in the know call it “The Pec” and it has been a staple for live jazz in Denver since 1978. This small bar may seem unassuming, and you could even miss it when you drive past, but take one step in those doors and you’ll be wowed with some of the best jazz talent in Colorado. Over the years, names like Tony Bennett, Artie Shaw, Al Grey, Ella Fitzgerald and so many more have made sure to stop by the Pec to play or just to take a seat and listen to some great tunes.

The Oriental Theater is another historic landmark theater in the Denver area, and it has been offering up unique entertainment for decades. On any given night, a trip to the Oriental can provide hours of amazing rock, jazz, comedy, film and just about anything else. Some of the biggest and best indie music groups in town play at the Oriental, and it is the perfect spot to find your next “new favorite band.” The venue itself is also wonderful, with a full bar, ATM, plenty of dancing space, comfortable tables and chairs and a welcoming and friendly staff.
