ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Police arrested two people in connection with a quadruple shooting that left two dead in Adams County just after midnight Sunday.

At the time of the shooting, neighbors say children were sleeping nearby. Jaden Garcia was babysitting his nieces and nephews when he heard gunshots.

"I came outside and saw somebody laying on the street," Garcia said. "It was pretty scary. It was a crazy moment."

Deputies were able to identify two suspects in connection with the shooting. Both were arrested and expected to be charged with first-degree murder with extreme indifference.

The suspects have been identified as Brandon Karr, 24, and Rojelio Heredia, 24. Both remain in custody at the Adams County Detention Facility. Arrest records indicate Heredia is currently on probation for a weapons charge earlier this year. Karr has an arrest history that includes theft and careless driving charges.

The relationship to the suspects and victims is unknown. What sparked the shooting is being investigated.

A witness, Lorenzo Heredia, told CBS4 the shooting began after a group of people started "making trouble" with his brother's neighbors. According to Heredia, he, his brother, and friends were drinking outside and enjoying their Saturday night, when another group of people drove up to the home next door.

"The people came looking for problems with the neighbors," Heredia said. "They drove away and that's when they fired at us. I was furthest, 15 or 20 feet away from the guns being shot. I was really lucky not to get hit, but my friend, who was in the very back, was the one."

Heredia says he saw one man, a friend, die of a gunshot wound to his neck. Heredia said another man, his cousin, was shot in the arm and a female neighbor suffered a gunshot wound to her leg. Heredia did not have information on the second man who was killed.

An Adam's County Sheriff's Office spokesman could not comment on Heredia's account of what happened and could not discuss motive or circumstances as deputies continue to investigate the shootings. Deputies believe they have taken all suspects into custody and are not looking for anyone else.
