Pokemon Go Used By Democrats To Register Voters
DENVER (CBS4)- Pokemon Go has become the most downloaded phone app in the U.S. Now Colorado Democrats are using the app to register voters.
Pokemon Go players congregate in public places, searching for specific spots identified on the game where they can collect virtual items for play.
Washington Park in Denver is filled with Pokemon Go enthusiasts. One says, "This is the spot to be."
Chloe King is canvasing the park hoping to turn Pokemon Go players into registered voters.
"I'm invested in the political process; I care that everyone gets out to vote," King.
She's happy to register voters of both parties.
CBS4's Suzanne McCarroll asked what the demographics are of those she is registering.
"Mostly younger guys from 16 to 25," said King.
April Paige was playing Pokemon at the park when she was recruited to update her voter registration information. Her address was out of date.
"Can I ask who you're voting for?" asked McCarroll.
Paige was quick to reply "Not Hillary or Donald."
She says she'll write in a candidate.
