Denver's 90-Degree Streak Hits Day 12, But Brief Break May Loom

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver International Airport reported a high of 93°F on Wednesday making it the 12th day in a row with readings in the 90s.

Denver sees about 40 days each year with 90-degree heat but the days are usually scattered between late May and early September. It's fairly uncommon for the city to see 10 or more days in a row with a high in the 90s.

The following list compiled by the National Weather Service shows streaks of 90-degree heat in Denver that lasted 10 days or longer. Denver's climate record began in 1872.

Denver could catch a brief break by Friday with highs in the mid to upper 80s but then its right back to the 90s over the upcoming weekend.
