Staying Hot With Scattered Storms To End the Week

By Ed Greene

DENVER (CBS4) - Thursday turned out to be another hot one - reaching 96 degrees at the airport and 94 degrees downtown. We did see storms around the state, more plentiful over the mountains and west but they never really got going over the metro area or eastern plains. Those that did develop were few and far between and not very strong. Heavy rains in the northwest prompted the issuance of a Flash Flood Watch for the northwest through the late and evening hours. Tomorrow we may have a greater chance for more widespread and stronger storms as the heat stays with us - look for a high back in the mid 90s.

As we move through the weekend, temperatures will not be quite as hot: partly cloudy Saturday, just isolated storms with a high in the lower 90s. Little change Sunday, except less heat - a high in the upper 80s - and we'll start the week with pretty much the same forecast for Monday - isolated storms and back in the upper 80s.
