Price Comparison Breakdown: Train Ride Vs. Driving To DIA

By Joel Hillan

DENVER (CBS4)- As much as we love our cars there is something intrinsically American about the rails. Providing your city a train to the airport seems almost as basic as power and water -- it's nearly as expensive to build and maintain with far fewer users.

So will you be one of them? Should you be one of them?

Here's how it the costs break down:

So, for a family of four, it's pretty much a wash but it starts to be a big money saver if you travel alone or if you are take multiple trips each month.

It's also a big money saver of taking a taxi or a ridesharing service.

Boulder                                                                             $88.57

Taking a Ridesharing Service

UBER                                                                                $32 - $149 (one way)

Lyft                                                                                    $31 - $64 (one way)

Perhaps best of all, you don't have to keep bugging that friend to take you to the airport and can save that emotional capital for help on your next big move.
