Prolonged Storm To Deliver Feet Of Snow Christmas Week Across Colorado's Rocky Mountains

DENVER (CBS4) - It's going to be a great week for skiers and boarders hitting Colorado's high country over the next several days.

A series of storms is promising a period of moderate to heavy snow starting Monday night and potentially lasting through Wednesday.

Some pockets of snow out ahead of the main weather system have already dropped up to a foot of snow since Sunday at some Colorado ski resorts.

Numerous warnings and advisories are in effect for Colorado's Rocky Mountains where there is the potential for many locations to receive 1-3 feet of snow.

Four official models show different possibilities for snow totals. While the numbers vary, it is certain that there will be snow in the mountains.

Holiday travel may become difficult at times, especially during the day on Tuesday.

In addition to the snow strong and gusty winds are also expected.
