From 60s To Snow In Denver In 12 Hours, But Nothing Like What Happened In 2014

DENVER (CBS4) - If you're new to Colorado you might have wondered what just happened.

But if you're a native or have been here for a while you know that rapid weather changes are just a part of life when living in the central Rockies.

Within 12 hours on Tuesday Denver went from a high temperature of 67°F to snow.

For the most part totals have been as predicted with a widespread area of 3-6 inches but we've seen isolated pockets with higher totals.

While the cold and snow might have been a bit of a shock to the system it could've been much worse.

On this date last year Colorado was in the middle of an unusually cold arctic outbreak. The temperature in Denver fell by 78°F over a period of three days.

The cold was accompanied by the first snow of the season.
