Denver Records Warmest End Of Summer, Start To Fall Since 1872

DENVER (CBS) - Denver's recent warm and dry stretch of weather has earned a special place in the record books.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, for the 41 days between Sept. 1 and Oct. 11, 2015, the average mean temperature in Denver was 67.3°F.

It's the warmest average temperature for that date range since reliable temperature records began in Denver in 1872

  • 29 days during the period had a high temperature at or above 80°F compared to a normal of 13 days
  • 31 days had a low temperature at 50°F or higher compared to a normal of 12 days
  • As of this posting the coldest temperature so far this season in Denver was 39°F on Oct. 5.

    Typically Denver would have experienced the first freeze of the season by now with the 30-year average date of first freeze being Oct. 7.

    There has been no snow measured in Denver so far this season. The average date of first measurable snowfall is Oct. 19.

    Average highs in Denver for the middle of October are in the mid to upper 60s with average lows in the mid to upper 30s.
