Oct. Heat Breaks Denver Record, Ties All-Time Records In Colorado Springs & Pueblo

DENVER (CBS4) - The calendar says it should be fall but it felt more like mid to late summer across Colorado this weekend.

At 1:46 p.m. Sunday the temperature hit 87°F at Denver International Airport which set a new record high for the date.

The old record was 85°F set in 1996 and 1975.

It was even hotter on the eastern plains where several communities saw highs above 90°F.

Pueblo topped out at 94°F which not only set a new record high for the date, but it also tied the all-time hottest October temperature on record set Oct. 16, 1991.

Colorado Springs recorded a high of 87°F which also set a new daily record and tied the all-time hottest October temperature set Oct. 3, 1935.

A cold front approaching from the north will cool temperatures back 10 to 15 degrees by Monday afternoon. But even with the cool down temperatures in Denver will remain above normal.

The normal high in Denver for October 11 and 12 is 67°F.
