Hillman Finds The New Broncos System Really Fits His Style

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - On the first episode of the CBS4 Football Blitz this season, running back Ronnie Hillman said he is much more comfortable with this Broncos offensive system than he was in previous years.

Hillman was a guest on the show along with cornerback Chris Harris, and Hillman told CBS4's Vic Lombardi he's not sure how many carries he'll be getting against the Ravens as a backup to starter C.J. Anderson.

"To be honest, you'll find out when I do. I don't know how the game's going to go," he said. "We're just going to get in there and play whenever our number's called."

Hillman had an effective preseason, and moved up on the depth chart where other backs slipped behind.

"I just think I'm a little bit more comfortable with this scheme than I was with the last. It's just easy for me to relate to it," said Hillman who is now in his fourth NFL season.

Harris said he's all for having an offense that emphasizes the run.

"We need our run game to keep me on the sidelines and fresh. That's what we want on the defensive side," Harris said. "Last year it felt like we put some point up so fast that it was like we didn't get no break."

One of those runners who slipped on the depth chart -- and eventually was cut -- was Montee Ball. Hillman said he expects Ball will land with another team soon.

"It was surprising, especially with a guy like that, a talented guy. But in the back of your head you know that's how the business goes. Anybody could get it," Hillman said.
