3 Suspects Arrested After Girl & Dog Shot In Target Parking Lot

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Three suspects are in custody after allegedly shooting a girl and her dog outside a Target in Aurora.

The three men were arrested about a mile and a half from the scene, and are now facing serious charges in a case that allegedly started with a drug deal arranged on Facebook.

It led to an encounter Tuesday night in the Target parking lot, where police said a man and a female friend met the suspects there to purchase marijuana wax, or hash oil.

Instead, the suspects held the male victim at gunpoint and stole his cash. They then drove away, but the victims followed them.

Police said the suspects shot at the victims' vehicle, hitting the 16-year-old girl and her dog.

Authorities arrested the three men Wednesday afternoon in the area of Mississippi Avenue and South Sable Boulevard. They are 19-year-old Fernando Ayala-Santiago, 18-year-old Steven Ramirez-Lomeli, and 19-year-old Jared Jimenez.

Two of the suspects face charges for attempted first degree murder and aggravated robbery, the third for accessory to attempted murder.

The teen was treated at an Aurora hospital, and the dog suffered an injury to the tail but has been released by a vet.
