Police: Teen Girl, Dog Shot Outside Target Store

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Aurora police are looking for two men who robbed and fired upon two people outside a Target store on East Ellsworth Avenue.

Police say it was an apparent drug deal that went bad with a 16-year-old girl getting shot and a dog also injured.

The shooting happened Tuesday night in the Target parking lot. According to police, two men purporting to be selling hash oil met their prospective buyer, his female friend and her dog. The deal had apparently been arranged on Facebook.

"When they met up, the suspect approached the victim's vehicle and held him and gunpoint and robbed him of his cash," Sgt. Chris Amsler with Aurora police said.

Two Hispanic males in their teens or early 20s then fled in a white older Honda. The robbery victims went after them.

"Our victims decided to follow our suspect. At that point our suspect fired rounds at the victim's vehicle, which struck the car, striking a 16-year-old female in the arm," Amsler said.

The Target store is equipped with security cameras which may have captured part of the incident.

The teen was taken to Aurora South Hospital where she was treated. Her dog suffered an injury to the tail and released by a veterinarian.
