Comet Lovejoy At Its Brightest & Visible In Colorado

DENVER (CBS4) - With a quiet stretch of weather for the next few days, there is still a chance to catch a glimpse of the Comet Q2 2014 Lovejoy in the skies over Colorado.

Lovejoy has been visible off and on for the past few weeks and was supposed to start decreasing in intensity last week, but that hasn't happened.

In fact, according to Jeff Tropeano with the Denver Astronomical Society, the comet is still getting brighter and can be seen easily with a pair of binoculars, even in the light polluted skies around Denver.

For those away from the city lights, there is a chance the comet could be seen with the naked eye, but it wouldn't be very bright.

Tropeano says the comet is a bright green with a beautiful light blue tail.

The comet will be visible tonight around 10 p.m. in the southwest sky.
