Officials Ask For Tips As They Search For Black Forest Fire Cause

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Officials in El Paso County are conducting an investigation into the cause of this week's historic Black Forest Fire, and they are asking for help from the public.

Sheriff Terry Maketa announced Thursday that two people died in a garage in the home of a burned home, and that has triggered a criminal investigation.

On Friday morning Maketa said as their "active investigation" continues they are narrowing down the point of origin of the fire.

Maketa shared the following contact number for people who might have information that might help them in their investigation:

(719) 444-8393

People can also email tips or photos they took that might be helpful to blackforestfiretipline@elpasoco.com.
