The Wetmore Fire (credit: CBS)
WETMORE, Colo. (AP) – Firefighters have fully contained a wildfire that scorched 2,000 acres and destroyed 15 homes near the small southern Colorado town of Wetmore.
The Wetmore Fire is burning in grass and timber about 25 miles west of Pueblo. It was reported Tuesday and at one point 380 people were forced from their homes. Recent snowfall helped crews get the upper hand on the fire.
Meanwhile, the Fern Lake Fire reported in Rocky Mountain National Park on Oct. 9 is holding steady at about 1,000 acres and is 17 percent contained.
The cause of both fires is under investigation.
