FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) – A public hearing is being held in Fort Collins for victims of the High Park wildfire who are irate over insurance problems.
Homeowners impacted by the Waldo Canyon fire in Colorado Springs or the Woodland Heights fire in Estes Park have also been invited to Wednesday’s hearing.
The state insurance commissioner, state legislators, representatives of Gov. John Hickenlooper’s office and county commissioners are expected to attend the hearing to identify potential solutions.
The Waldo Canyon and High Park fires this summer were the two most destructive wildfires in state history, burning a total of more than 600 homes. The Woodland Heights fire in Estes Park burned about two dozen homes and other buildings.
