Denver Nonprofit Encourages People To Become Their Own 'Boss'
DENVER (CBS4)- Denver nonprofit Community Works hosted a Boss Day Breakfast on Friday morning, designed to heighten awareness of the unemployment crisis in the Denver metro area.
The Denver unemployment rate was 5.9% in August.
The nonprofit, founded in 1995, specializes in job preparation and job placement, often times for people who are low income. Over the past twenty years, more than 6,200 people have gotten jobs after completing Community Works' programs.
The fundraising event featured a variety of speakers, including Dr. Ryan Ross, Founder of the Urban Leadership Foundation, and Bennie Fowler, former Denver Broncos Wide Receiver.
