Firefighting Tanks For C-130s Back Into Storage At Peterson AFB Until Next Wildfire Season
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- It could be a sign that the wildfire season is over in Colorado. The 302nd Airlift Wing at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs said firefighting tanks on C-130 airplanes are being put back into storage.
The tanks can't be stored with any fire retardant inside. Crews load the tanks with water and the tanks are discharged at a designated drop zone to clear out all the material.
