Hepatitis C Cases On The Rise In Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - There's an alarming rise in Hepatitis C cases among young adults in Jefferson County.

The county reports a 32 percent increase between 2015 and 2016.

Hepatitis C cases were also up 65 percent in 10 Front Range counties.

The virus is commonly spread through sharing needles.

Doctors believe the rise is due to the opioid crisis and an increase in heroin use.
