GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) – A man died at the hospital Saturday after being bitten by a rattlesnake.

The bite happened at approximately 12:40 p.m. while the man, who was described as being in his 30s, was hiking on trails in Mount Galbraith Park. That’s about a mile to the northwest of downtown Golden.

The hiker was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital. His identity hasn’t been released.

  1. How did the patient manage to die in the hospital? Was antivenom administered? If yes, the survival rate is close to 100%, so what went wrong? Does the hospital even keep antivenom in stock? The price per dose is thousands of dollars, was the patient denied medicine for lack of insurance? How about some *real* reporting – this story leaves a lot of questions unasked and unanswered.
