Police Officer Turns Himself In, Placed On Unpaid Leave
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- An Aurora police officer has been arrested and placed on unpaid administrative leave after he turned himself in on a warrant.
Officer Matthew Ewert, 34, was arrested by officers from the Erie Police Department. He faces charges of attempting to influence a public servant, tampering with physical evidence and first-degree official misconduct.
The case involves his nephew. That nephew allegedly threatened a teenager with a gun on July 1.
Erie police allegedly found the gun in Ewert's garage.
Ewert has been with the Aurora Police Department since 2010.
