More Officers In Fort Collins Will Be Wearing Body Cameras
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Fort Collins Police Services will be doubling the number of officers who wear body cameras.
They started with 60 body cams and will soon have 120.
Just last week the department released video of the first officer-involved shooting captured on the cameras.
"There are several calls that happen now where people are breaking out cellphones and they're capturing part of a incident, with the body cams on the police officers, we get to capture the incident from the time the officer turns the camera on until they turn it off," Sgt. Dean Cunningham with Fort Collins Police said.
The department plans to have the new body cams on officers by May 1.
