DENVER (CBS4)– Crews topped off the new Carla Madison Recreation Center in Denver on Wednesday.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock signed the ceremonial beam along with other city leaders before it was placed at the top of the new rec center under construction at Colfax Avenue and Josephine.

“We’re very, very excited to bring this wonderful new amenity to a part of the community that really has been underserved in our recreation and parks for so many years,” said Denver Parks & Recreation Executive Director Allegra “Happy” Haynes.

The new rec center is scheduled to open next summer.
