Broncos Defensive Backs Draw 6 Costly Penalties In Loss

OAKLAND (The Sports Xchange) - The Broncos were without starting left cornerback Aqib Talib (back) and backup corner Kayvon Webster (hamstring) for Sunday night's loss to the Raiders, but Oakland's offense still chose to attack them primarily on the ground.

"I don't think it affected us too much because they were running the ball a lot on us today," said Denver cornerback Bradley Roby of Talib's absence. "They were running the ball for over 200 yards."

Denver's defensive backs, however, drew six costly penalties.

Roby, who started in place of Talib, was flagged for holding and pass interference, as was cornerback Chris Harris Jr. Cornerbacks Lorenzo Doss and Taurean Nixon, who was promoted from the practice squad, each drew pass interference flags. Safety Darian Stewart was penalized for holding.

"You're going to miss players in the league as they get hurt," Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said. "How you perform through those things has a lot to do with how your season goes. We've held up and done a pretty good job thus far. Obviously, tonight it's got to be better."
