Police: Man Lived In Illegal Shack On Aspen Mountain, Stole Ski Gear

ASPEN, Colo. (CBS4) - A man is in custody for allegedly stealing expensive ski gear and then selling it online.

Investigators say James Hogue was living in an illegally built shack on Aspen Mountain. Inside police found $13,000 in cash as well as snowboards, skis, and 20 ski jackets priced at $400 each.

Hogue had previously served time in prison for theft and had an arrest warrant out of Boulder County.

According to the Aspen Times, Hogue had once posed as a 16-year-old high school student in Palo Alto, California, when he was 26 years old. The Aspen Times also reported "in his late 20s and early 30s (he) fraudulently competed for the Princeton track team for two years under a fake name."
