DNA Confirms Identity Of Human Remains Found Near Gunnison
GUNNISON, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities have released the identity of human remains found by hikers west of Gunnison last January.
According to the Gunnison County Sheriff's Office, the remains belong to 54-year-old Michael David Lewis.
Lewis' remains were discovered in the Palisade cliffs area on private property on Jan. 17.
After much snow had melted authorities conducted a more thorough search and located a billfold belonging to Lewis with his identification card.
DNA later confirmed the remains belonged to Lewis.
It's not clear where Lewis was from.
