CDOT: Mountain Express Lane A Summer Success

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- The Interstate 70 Mountain Express Lane has been called a success during the summer months by the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The 13-mile toll lane runs along the left shoulder of eastbound I-70 in Clear Creek County. The lane launched in December 2015 but CDOT claims the toll lanes have helped cut down on mountain traffic jams.

CDOT said drivers saw faster travel and fewer accidents.

Tolls have typically stayed below $10, but they could rise to $30 on peak travel days.
