DENVER (CBS4) – Police in Denver have released the identity of the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred in the Five Points neighborhood last Sunday morning.

According to John White with the Denver Police Department, the shooting occurred during an altercation between two individuals near a light rail station at 29th Avenue and Welton Street.

The victim has been identified as Gerald Hammons, 38, who police say was shot and killed outside his vehicle.

“Hammons had been at Wardenclyffe, 2852 Welton Street, an after-hours club, just prior to the shooting,” police said in a statement.

A suspect has yet to be identified.
