Deputies Investigating After Woman's Body Found In SUV

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - A death investigation is underway in Adams County after a woman's body was found near 78th Avenue and York Street in Thornton.

CBS4 has learned there's a connection between the death investigation and the search for a missing woman. An SUV where the body was found at an apartment complex matches the description of an SUV that belongs to a missing woman from Elbert County.

"I noticed the car was sitting here all week and hadn't moved," a resident of the apartment complex said.

Neighbors say the suspicious SUV had been sitting there since Labor Day. Saturday morning the deputies with the Adams County Sheriff's Office found the body of an adult female inside.

"I came out about 11:30 and there was a bunch of cop cars, and there was a fire truck and ambulance and there was some crime scene tape around," apartment resident T'Shara Swartz said.

The mother of 25-year-old Hannah Hrabik says the SUV is her daughter's. She's been missing from Elbert County since last Sunday.

Swartz said she had never seen the SUV until earlier this week.

"I went to check the mail and I kind of smelled something funny but I didn't even think about it," she said. "It just didn't belong here and I didn't see anybody coming or going from it."

Hrabik's family says she was last seen just one mile away from North Coronado Parkway and York where investigators found her SUV.

With little answers from authorities, Swartz says the incident has her neighborhood on edge.

"I have kids and they ride their bikes and they come in and out and it just makes you wonder what kind of people are lurking around our neighborhood," she said.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office could not elaborate on whether there's a suspect wanted in connection with the case.

The circumstances of the death are still under investigation as authorities wait for an autopsy.
