Thornton Approves Retail Pot Sales

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4)- One city in the Denver metro area has decided to lift its ban on retail marijuana sales.

Thornton was one of the biggest cities in the region with a ban on retail pot sales. During Tuesday's city council meeting, some residents testified that the shops would send the wrong message to children.

But city council members said the community needs the tax revenue from marijuana sales.

The number of retail pot shops will be limited to four stores.

The City of Thornton will begin accepting applications from businesses next week.
