Denver Zoo Welcomes Adorable Pair
DENVER (CBS) - Turns out the Denver Zoo has been hiding two adorable animals behind the scenes.
Two red panda cubs arrived on June 6 but the zoo did not reveal their births for a month. Mother Faith has been caring for the twin girls, Lali and Masu in in a nesting box.
Faith has taken the pair outside occasionally but they will remain mostly behind the scenes until September.
That's when they will be more developed and ready to join their father, Hamlet in the red panda exhibit.
When they were first born, the cubs had problems gaining weight and regulating their body temperatures. That's when veterinarians discovered they had pneumonia.
A treatment of tube feeding, antibiotics and fluids got Lali and Masu back on their paws.
Their eyes just opened but like most four-week-olds, they sleep most of the time.
This is the first litter for both Faith and Hamlet.
Red pandas are native to Asia and are classified as endangered.
