Broncos Sponsorship Canceled, But Sports Authority Still Fielding Bids for Stadium Naming Rights

DENVER (CBS4) - A federal bankruptcy court has rejected sponsorship contracts between Sports Authority and 10 different sports franchises. including the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies.

According to bankruptcy court documents filed Wednesday, the ruling effectively cancels the Broncos' sponsorship contracts with the bankrupt retailer. Sports Authority will also lose 12 club level tickets and its executive suite at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

The naming rights for the stadium are not part of the latest ruling. A private company, Hilco Streambank, is auctioning off Sports Authority's intellectual property, which includes stadium naming rights, the Sports Authority website, private label brands and customer data.

According to Hilco Streambank's website, the customer data includes over 114-million customer's data, including 25-million email addresses.

The deadline for bids for Sports Authority's stadium naming rights and other intellectual property is June 27.

The Stadium District is asking the court to allow first right of refusal in the naming rights process.
