DENVER (CBS4) – The World Health Organization has decided to no longer classify the world’s favorite morning pick-me-up as a carcinogen.
The agency says there’s not enough evidence linking coffee to cancer, which they had previously warned about. Not only have they determined coffee does not cause cancer, but it may in fact reduce the risk for certain types.
However, scientists do say very hot beverages could injure the throat, which could lead to tumors and in turn, cancer. The International Agency for Research on Cancer recommended letting hot drinks cool to below 150 degrees before drinking them.
