Police Seek Public's Help In Idaho Springs Murder Investigation

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities are asking for the public's help in their search for the killer of a 44-year-old Idaho Springs man.

Eric Spencer died on April 11 after apparently being shot by someone the day before. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound from a small caliber weapon, according to the district attorney's office which represents Clear Creek County.

The crime took place at an apartment building located at 345 Idaho Street.

"We understand that this horrific event is of intense public interest," DA Bruce Brown said in a statement.

Brown said investigators are still actively working on the case.

"We appreciate the public's patience with this process, which we understand can be frustrating at times," he said.

An arrest was made last month but that person was released without charges being filed. No information was provided about why that person was arrested. They were only described by police as a "person of interest."
