Murder Trial Of Ex-Colorado Sheriff's Deputy Set To Begin

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — Jury selection in set to begin Monday in the trial of a former Colorado sheriff's deputy accused of killing his wife in 2012.

Investigators originally ruled Ashley Fallis' death a suicide but new evidence, including an alleged confession overheard by a neighbor, led a grand jury to charge former Weld County sheriff's deputy Tom Fallis with second-degree murder in 2014.

Fallis' lawyers say Ashley Fallis committed suicide and have introduced a suicide note that was written about a year and a half before her death.

The Greeley Tribune reports that Ashley Fallis' parents have alleged that fellow law enforcement officers tried to cover up Tom Fallis' involvement.

He moved to Bloomington, Indiana with his three children after his wife's death.
