Study Finds Panthers Have An Edge Over Broncos When It Comes To Grammar

DENVER (CBS4) - While the Broncos and Panthers may be pretty evenly matched on the football field, a new study of Twitter data claims Carolina has an edge over Denver when it comes to grammar.

Panthers players make fewer grammatical mistakes than Broncos players, according to Grammarly.

The writing-enhancement platform Grammarly looked at starters from both teams (according to NFL.com charts) who had a verified and personally-managed Twitter account. The software identified errors in the players' tweets, from misspellings to mix-ups (then vs. than), and tallied the totals.

However, they didn't penalize players for common social media conventions like slang, intentionally missed punctuation, sentence fragments, or nicknames.

The study then calculated the average number of mistakes per 100 words. The final results show that Panthers starting players make 4.3 mistakes per 100 words, and Broncos starting players make 4.5 mistakes per 100 words.

A few fun facts include finding that Broncos special-teams players made the fewest mistakes; Broncos' offense and Panthers' defense tied for the most mistakes; and the player with the most mistakes as well as the player with the fewest mistakes were both Panthers.
