Broncos' David Bruton Visits With Denver Boys & Girls Club For Reading & Dinner
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Broncos safety David Bruton Jr. has a passion off the football field -- reading. It's why he founded a charity, Bruton's Books, to help get books into the hands of young children.
This week Bruton stopped off at the Denver Boy's and Girl's Club in southwest Denver to visit with children.
He spent Tuesday speaking about the importance of reading, giving each child a book, and sharing an early Thanksgiving feast with them.
Bruton also spoke to the Boys and Girls Club's Owen Branch, where he delivered 3,000 books.
The Bill Walters Thanksgiving dinner was held that night for local neighborhood club members and their families. This year, the Optimist Club of Monaco South collected more than 2,000 books for Bruton to hand out at the dinner.
As stated by their website, "The mission of the David Bruton Jr. Foundation and Bruton's Books is to help low-income children in grades k-3 become strong readers through tutoring and by providing books to underfunded schools, libraries, and classrooms."
