2nd Robbery Suspect Arrested 9 Days After Alleged Crime
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- A second suspect has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of marijuana in Sunshine Canyon in Boulder County on Nov. 10.
Garrett Lee Mendes was arrested in Greeley on Wednesday on an arrest warrant out of Boulder County. Boulder County Sheriff's deputies say Mendes, 28, of Loveland was the second suspect wanted in last week's robbery.
The warrant contained charges of second-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, aggravated robbery, first-degree assault, felony menacing and criminal mischief.
Investigators believe Mendes is the second suspect in the robbery that left a 45-year-old male victim with non-life threatening injuries at the home.
Investigators say two strangers came to the home knowing marijuana was growing there. When the homeowner refused to cooperate one of the suspects pistol-whipped him.

The suspects fled, but law enforcement had a description of the vehicle and gave chase as they exited the canyon. Law enforcement retreated in Broomfield when the suspects got out of control.
One of the suspects was located later in the day in Longmont, driving a different vehicle. Police again pursued this suspect, to the corner of US 85 and West Bromley Lane in Brighton. The suspect emerged from his vehicle with a firearm and officers responded with shots fired. He died on the scene.
