Passengers Prepare For Delays, Cancellations At DIA

By Rick Sallinger

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver International Airport was very quiet on Monday evening. This may be due to a number of cancellations by airlines as the storm moves into the Denver area.

Two passengers from Iowa told CBS4 they heard about a snowfall predictions and tried to get a flight out tonight without luck. Their scheduled departure is 7 a.m. Tuesday so they are spending the night in some very uncomfortable looking chairs.

More than 200 flights were cancelled at DIA Monday night into Tuesday.

One businessman who just arrived in Denver said they wanted to rent an SUV to drive to Colorado Springs but they have none available.

Airport spokesman Heath Montgomery insisted that DIA should have no problems remaining open given the amount of snow predicted.

Ironically a brand new Westin hotel connected to the terminal is due to open November 19th. It would've made a great place to wait out the storm.

Passengers are encouraged to check their flight status with their airline before driving to the airport.
