AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Crews with the Arapahoe County Bomb Squad investigated a suspicious device left in a field on Saturday morning that turned out to be a false alarm.

The device was found by a man as he was walking through the field near Idalia and Mississippi. He picked it up and then called police.

The bomb squad was called in to investigate. They X-rayed the device and then cut it open to investigate.

"I looked at it, I picked it up, there was a little bit of weight, and I thought I better put it down and get somebody over here quick," said Sidney Byington. "It looked dangerous with all the tape and wires all over it. Now that I look at it, it could still be dangerous, small cans do explode."

The device turned out to be an aerosol can wrapped in duct tape with wires attached.
