Deputies Believe Attempted Sex Assault Suspect Has More Victims

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Investigators with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office have arrested an attempted sexual assault suspect but believe there may be more victims based on the suspect's behavior.

"This is disturbing on a number of levels," said Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Julie Brooks.

On Thursday deputies arrested Jeffery Ball of Denver on attempted sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact and indecent exposure.

"It is very disturbing to us that he might have gotten away with it several times or not been able to act on what he wanted to do up until now," said Brooks.

Ball, 39, was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility.

Investigators said the 20-year-old victim reported that a man came into her place of business in the 9200 block of East Mineral Avenue on Aug. 13. She told detectives he introduced himself and left but returned a short time later stating that his car needed a jump start.

"He had introduced himself, interacted with her for a bit. He left the business but then returned a little bit later," said Brooks.

The victim agreed to help and drove him in her car to a covered parking garage a few blocks away.

"He then exposed himself and tried to get her to commit sexual acts," said Brooks.

The victim reported that the man then exposed himself and attempted to get the victim to perform sexual acts. The victim drove back to her work where the man got out of the car.

"The woman did the right thing by getting herself out of that situation," said Brooks.

She called deputies the next day.

After investigators received a description and examined the surveillance video, they identified the man as Ball and discovered he works in the same area as the victim.

"But we do think because of how this went down that there might be more victims out there," said Brooks.

Investigators say given the nature of the offense and how it was carried out, they believe there may be other victims. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Investigator Turnidge at 720-874-4035.
