Broncos Sign Former Eagles Offensive Lineman Evan Mathis
DENVER (CBS4) - The Broncos have signed a veteran guard to bring more experience to their offensive line.
The team announced on Tuesday afternoon that two-time Pro Bowler and former Philadelphia Eagle Evan Mathis has joined the roster after signing a one-year deal.
Mathis comes with an impressive resume. He is in his 11th year in the NFL and in addition to 56 starts for the Philadelphia Eagles, he has played for the Carolina Panthers, Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals.
Broncos Executive Vice President of Football John Elway said in a statement that "Mathis is an accomplished veteran who has played at a very high level for the last several seasons."
Mathis was an Associated Press first-team All-Pro choice in 2013 and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the last two seasons with the Eagles. He was released by the Eagles in June.
Up to this point in the preseason, the Broncos have been showcasing an offense that has three starters who have never played in an NFL regular season game.
