Several More Days To Contain Red Canyon Wildfire

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Firefighters say it will take several more days to contain a small wildfire south of Glenwood Springs.

Glenwood Springs Fire Chief Gary Tillotson says the fire is limited to about 8 acres.

The fire may have been sparked by lightning on Friday in juniper and pinion pine on rugged Bureau of Land Management terrain.

No structures were threatened.

Several other small wildfires were reported in western Colorado. Authorities are monitoring small wildfires in the Rio Grande National Forest near Capulin, the White River National Forest northwest of Eagle, a wildfire near Meeker and another one near Elk Springs.
