Children Become Advisers In Gay Marriage Controversy

DENVER (CBS4) - After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage, cities across the country burst into celebration. Pride parades and impromptu festivals were held over the weekend. Though largely peaceful gatherings, there were adversaries present to protest their beliefs.

On Sunday in Columbus, OH, a street preacher opposed to the legalization of gay marriage shouted his message to crowds at a festival.

First grader Zea responded by waving a pride flag at the man, which her father caught on camera. The video has now gone viral with over 3 million views.

Some people on social media cheer Zea on, while others think the scene was taken out of context.

One common sentiment is that kids do not understand gay marriage and should not be put into that kind of atmosphere at such a young age.

However, Jimmy Kimmel set out to disprove that argument by interviewing children. The video in which kids give their definition of gay marriage and whether they think it's acceptable has gone equally as viral as the one of Zea waving her flag.

It's hard to say who is right, but it's also hard to argue with the innocence of children.
