Motorcycle Belonging To Man Found Dead In South Platte Recovered

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators in Douglas County have located the motorcycle belonging to a man whose body was found in the South Platte River.

Robert Jacobs went missing on June 8. His family said he was riding his motorcycle to Breckenridge to meet them for vacation. His body was recovered from the river earlier this week.

Douglas County deputies recovered his motorcycle on Wednesday about 10 miles south of where his body was discovered.

"The DCSO and the South Metro Fire Rescue's Swift Water Team used straps and a crane to pull the Harley out of the river around noon today, about two miles north of Sugar Creek Road on South Platte River Road," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

The sheriff's department posted a video of the motorcycle recovery on YouTube with Jacobs' family's permission.

Investigators have determined his death was simply an accident. The road near the accident site was gravel, which may have caused Jacobs to run off the road.
