Man Waving Gun Outside Bar Refuses Orders And Is 'Subsequently Shot'

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Aurora police responded to reports of a man with a gun shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday outside of a bar.

Neighbors of the Del Norte Bar located at to 9655 East Montview Boulevard called police about a man waving a gun who appeared intoxicated. When officers arrived they made contact with the man, at which point a confrontation ensued.

"He refused to comply with orders given by officers and was subsequently shot," Officer Judy Lutkin said in a statement.

There is no information on whether the suspect shot at police.

The suspect was transported to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and is currently listed in serious but stable condition, according to Lutkin.

Police recovered the weapon and made contact with all parties.

Investigators were on scene at first light in the morning looking for any additional evidence.

The officer, a 13-year veteran of the police department, has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending an review of the incident.

The name of the suspect hasn't been released due to the ongoing investigation.
